Sumita Ambasta has pursued a lifelong interest in Education and Human Development. She has founded and leads Flowering Tree, Inc., a US based foundation, that supports children’s education and women’s Development in Asia. The foundation has worked on grassroots education and development in India for the last fifteen years. She has helped incubate start-ups and has lifelong experience in the role of Human Resources in the fields of finance, technology, and entrepreneurship. She has mentored several women entrepreneurs supports women in taking leadership roles. She works in the US, Singapore and India and has exposure to cross cultural issues, policy and research in these areas. As a commitment to lifelong learning, she is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She has also undertaken studies in film-making and Hindustani Classical Music. She has raised two children in multicultural and multilingual settings. She is frequently invited to write and speak on topics of education, development and leadership.
