Bio

Dr. Saumya Jetley is a faculty member at Plaksha. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Vision and Machine Learning Algorithms from the University of Oxford completed under the advisement of Phil Torr. She was recently a Postdoctoral Researcher in Causal Inference and Machine Learning at INRIA-Paris Saclay under Michele Sebag. Her research interests include, but are not limited to: Applied Computer Vision (with focus on interpretability and robustness), Machine Learning (additionally under privacy-preserving settings), and Causal reasoning (currently, to study biases in the job market). At Plaksha, she is looking to focus on applied themes of personalised education, digital agriculture, and robotics.


She is an active science communicator. She was an invited panel member for FDL Europe Big Think 2020 and has given research talks at various venues including AI Wadhwani Institute, ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, INRIA - Paris. She has been variously involved in conducting workshops for school students and adults as part of the outreach team at Oxford University and as Royal Academy of Engineering volunteer.
